111.111111111
MEM EMI
submittal section. This section has also been updated to include requirements for the
elevator shop drawing submittal.
10. Section 2/A5.6 shows an elevator hoist beam. The beam is not located at the roof level and
appears to require support from the mezzanine structure framing. The structural plans do not
appear to include either the beam or framing to support it and should be revised. Framing
connections are required to provide a minimum positive connection capacity per ASCE 7-10
Section 1.4.4. Calculations substantiating the framing and connections should be submitted for
review. See IBC Sections 1603.1 and 1604.1.
DCI Response: Calculations for an elevator hoist beam and rail supports have been performed, see
updated calculations sheets 0-41 thru 0-43. Loading used was based on loads received from an
elevator manufacturer for a similar elevator. These loads have been added to the plans on sheets
S2.0 and S2.1. A plan note has been added to both sheets that alert the contractor to the elevator
support process.
Sincerely,
DCI Engineers
07?-4( Ak-5k4
Craig A. Stainer, P.E., S.E.
Associate
