This proposal was reviewed by the Transportation Advisory Committee,
which supported the concept of naming the trail and a name with a historic reference, but did not endorse the
name "Sawdust Trail." The Historical Commission held a public hearing on 10/28/14, and recommended
City Council name the trail, but recommended the names "Mill Town Trail," "Sawmill Trail," or "Historic
Mill Trail." Staff recommends "Mill Town Trail," after the well-known book, Mill Town, a history of early
Everett by Nonnan H. Clark.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Approve a resolution naming the bike/pedestrian trail around north Everett the "Mill Town Trail."
9
