Budget Remaining -0- Additional Required -0- DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Mayor's office received a proposal signed by 119 residents of the Riverside, Delta, Northwest, Bayside and Port Gardner Neighborhoods to name the existing sidewalk bike/pedestrian trail around the north Everett peninsula the "Sawdust Trail." This proposal was reviewed by the Transportation Advisory Committee, which supported the concept of naming the trail and a name with a historic reference, but did not endorse the name "Sawdust Trail." The Historical Commission held a public hearing on 10/28/14, and recommended City Council name the trail, but recommended the names "Mill Town Trail," "Sawmill Trail," or "Historic Mill Trail." Staff recommends "Mill Town Trail," after the well-known book, Mill Town, a history of early Everett by Nonnan H. Clark. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Approve a resolution naming the bike/pedestrian trail around north Everett the "Mill Town Trail." 9
