Avenue, Pacific Avenue and Maple Street to Everett Avenue and
thence to East Grand Avenue. Perhaps a few hundred folks
regularly frequent Everett's perimeter view trail — taking in the
river, the vast and deep sound, and our two mountain ranges.
But there is a problem — no one knows what to call it !
Once, this route from the historic Lowell community on the river
around to historic Junction Beach on the bay was packed with
living, breathing, smoking and howling manufacturing plants
producing ships, all forms of lumber products, shakes and shingles,
doors, and several giant pulp and paper mills. Everett lumber and
paper products have been marketed around the world for most of
the last 110 years. In fact, Everett contained so
many lumber, shingle and paper mills in the past that it proudly
adopted the title "City of Smokestacks". A major by product of all
this production was sawdust, millions of cubic yards of the stuff, and
even that never went to waste, heating Everett homes for several
decades.
Therefore, we the undersigned propose that the title SAWDUST
TRAIL be established, posted, proclaimed and marketed as the
formal name of Everett's scenic perimeter view trail. SAWDUST
TRAIL shall commence at Everett Avenue and East Grand
Avenue- and run north along East Grand and East Marine View
Drive, connect to West Marine View Drive at American Legion
Park- and continue south to Hewitt Avenue and then along Bond
Street to historic and beautiful Junction Beach.
NM I Z.EtZ,S--"
t %> .a w -A." ! ate,
AC . _%' Doi M . e L1_
L\J E ampt s T
GE 3 1°- 3t-I 1AJl kt i 1141L.
