We will need hardcopies of the drawings. Also, there
appear to be some changes that were not in the original design,so this will need to be reviewed by both public works
and planning. While I often review an electronic version, the other departments may require the hardcopy. I will
forward and let them contact you as needed.
Here are a few things that I'm seeing:
• The changes affect the PW-drawing per the response to Comment 1. The updated drawing should be included
to complete this review. In addition, the walls have been moved to this sheet. The sheet that included the site
walls should be updated to removed the unused sections and details.
• Sheet SW1.0 still states CMU walls in the sections.
• The response to Comment 3 appears to indicate that the wall for the "opposite side" has simply been rotated
180-degrees. This may not be adequate. One notable issue is that the bottom reinforcement is the flexural
reinforcement for Detail 4/SW1.0. The bottom reinforcement has not been provided with a lap, nor does the
vertical bar hook provide a sufficient lap length with the bottom reinforcement.
• The minimum soil cover for the wall in Detail 4/SW1.0 should be specified.
• The response to Comment 4 states that updated calculations will be submitted. These do not appear included in
the documents and shall be submitted in order to complete the review.
• The extended wall in Detail 3/SW1.0 will have additional wind loading concurrent with soil loading. Note that if
the wall is located near a walking surface, it must have a minimum height required for guards; a concurrent
lateral live load will also be required.
• Per the response to the geotechnical comments, the wall designs shall include concurrent live load surcharges as
needed.
• Partial Plan A/SW1.1 shows the north wall differently than the other two walls. The wall also appears open-
ended;the extent is not clear. Review and revise the partial plan as needed to verify that all wall extents are
correctly shown.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
Lnoi
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: Monday—Friday 7:30am-12:OOpm and 1:OOpm-4:OOpm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
From: Brad Marucha <bradm@mcogc.com>
Sent: Monday,September 23, 2019 11:43 AM
To: Drew Martin<dmartin@everettwa.gov>
Subject: RE: City of Everett Permit Services: 8417 Evergreen Way(B1908-057)- First Building Review
