f
N
i,6':A detail does not appear provided for the connection of the joists at the concrete column. See Grid A'12'on Sheet
S1.3 as an example. Other locations may have a similar condition and should be verified.
er the original comment, the estimated elevator loads assumed for the connection design should be specified in the
structural notes for future reference. The loads should be specified as nominal or factored.
13a. Detail 1/S1.4 shows a connection of the infill deck to the existing hollow-core slab (HCS). Based on a review of the
record drawings, the original HCS at the opening location was narrower than a standard 8'-panel. Reviewing dimensions
of the framing and opening sides, it appears that only a narrow remnant of the south edge of this panel may remain,
estimated at approximately 7" wide. The existing condition should be verified, and the detailed verified to be adequate
for the existing conditions to support the slab edge.
13b. Detail 2/S1.4 shows the primary load-path connection for the infill slab. The load must primarily travel through the
angle ledger, which is subject to both vertical shear and pull-out due to eccentricity of the slab bearing on the angle. A
calculation for the connection should be provided. Note that the doweled connection to the topping slab should be
ignored. Per the record drawings, the topping slab consists of"foamcrete" which is understood to have negligible
strength;the thickness and reinforcement do not appear to specified in the record drawings. To ensure the integrity of
this connection, the EOR should verify that the existing conditions are suitable for the proposed connection.
047 Please let me know if you have questions.
rew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Associate Engineer, Commercial Plans Examiner
Permit Services
P:425.257.8810 / Direct:425.257.8813
E: dmartin@everettwa.gov
Office: 3200 Cedar Street, 2"d Floor, Everett,WA, 98201
Hours: Monday—Friday 7:30am-12:OOpm and 1:OOpm-4:OOpm
www.everettwa.gov/permits
II C:i
NOTICE: Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure
pursuant to the Public Records Act.
d--)-3
