September 10, 2017 <br /> Infiltration Tests <br /> L&A Job No. 17-095 <br /> Page 5 <br /> The infiltration test pits was excavated to about 20 to 24 inches deep, approximately the <br /> level of subgrade soils under the proposed access road, with their bottom excavated into <br /> the weathered deposit of brown, silty fine sand with trace to some gravel. Dimensions of <br /> the infiltration test pits and the soil condition at bottom of the pits are presented in the <br /> table below: <br /> TEST PIT SIZE AND SOIL CONDITION <br /> Test Pit Description of Soil <br /> No. Size at Bottom of Test Pit <br /> IT-1 3.58' x 4.86' Brown, silty fine SAND, <br /> X 1.67' deep some gravel <br /> IT-2 3.75' x 4.42' Brown, silty fine SAND, <br /> x 1.42' deep trace gravel <br /> Infiltration Test Procedure and Test Results <br /> The in-situ infiltration tests were conducted in accordance with the Small Pilot Test <br /> procedure outlined in Everett Stormwater Code. The infiltration test pits were first filled <br /> with water for several hours to soak the soils underneath the pits. Clear tap water was <br /> used in the tests. The infiltration tests were then conducted in accordance with the test <br /> procedure in the pits. The test results were presented in the APPENDIX attached to this <br /> report. A steel bar was placed across the top of the test pits and water levels from the <br /> steel bar were measured during the tests. <br /> LIU & ASSOCIATES, INC. <br />
