• B. SWPPP Minimum Elements 1: Preserve Vegetation and Mark Clearing Limits The first step in the construction process is for the contractor to fence the limits of clearing/disturbance (BMP C103) prior to any other construction activity. The engineering plans locate and provide the square footages for the areas of grading, clearing, impervious surfaces and un-disturbed areas on the proposed site. As much of the natural vegetation as possible will be preserved on this project (BMP C101). Approximately 72% of the entire project site has the potential to be cleared or disturbed for this project. 2: Establish Construction Access No construction entrance is required for this project. At this time winter work is expected during the wet season. 3: Control Flow Rates • This project is below the thresholds requiring flow control for the project. 4: Install Sediment Controls This site SWPPP proposes to construct/maintain a vegetative buffer(BMP C102), silt fencing (BMP C233) and retention of the existing vegetation (BMP C101) that will provide a vegetated strip around the work area and any adjacent property line. The construction of these features should be completed before the clearing and grading of the site. Mulch (BMP C121)will also be used on the exposed soil as necessary to limit erosion. In addition, streets shall be cleaned as needed at the end of each work day or through out the day if dirt and debris is tracked onto the paved surfaced. 5: Stabilize Soils The "Construction Sequence" calls for the stabilization of soils that remain unworked for certain lengths of time based on the time of year. Bare/disturbed soils shall remain uncovered or un-stabilized for no more than 2 days from Oct. 1 —April 30 and no more than 7 days from May 1 —Sept. 30. Stabilization techniques may include but not limited to mulching (BMP C121), plastic sheeting-(BMP C123) or hydroseeding (BMP C120), notes have been added to the plan regarding protection for the stock pile area if necessary. A stockpile area has been identified on the SWPPP and is setback a minimum of 25-feet from any down slope property line. In addition, during dry periods soil should be covered or wetted (BMP C140) to reduce the production of dust. 6: Protect Slopes All disturbed slopes on site during construction are required to be protected with mulch (BMP C121) or other means as specified in the construction sequence like surface roughening (BMP C130). No concentrated runoff or significant amounts of sheet flow will be directed to new cut or fill slopes during construction (BMP C206). 7: Protect Drain Inlets Catch basin inlets will have inlet protection such as silt socks or an approved equivalent. 8: Stabilize Channels and Outlets No new channels or outlets are proposed for this site.
