Please review and respond to the comments below. Structural 1. It appears that the new 6x12 DF-1 beams on the west side of the proposed deck extension are taking more tributary width than the new 6x12 beams on the east side of the deck extension. Please verify that the beams are still adequate for the larger tributary width. IBC 1604.2. 2. Per the WAC Amendments to the IBC Table 1607.1, the Live Load requirement for decks are to be designed to 1.5 times the occupancy served. From the permit calculations, it appears that deck design live load used is 50 psf,which would indicate that the occupancy served for the residence is 33 psf, less than the minimum design live load of 40 psf for residential spaces. Please clarify and revise design deck loading as required. 3. Please indicate on the typical railing detail the post spacing, as it does not appear on the drawing. Also, please clarify the attachment detail of the post when the joists are not parallel. IBC 107.2.1 4. On the typical guardrail post, it appears that cable rail is being used on this project. Please indicate and provide design calculations indicating how loads from the post-tensioned cables are being resolved through the new and existing framing members and guardrail posts.
