Y 'I <br /> Section 2.0 Asbestos Survey Narrative (Batch Tower) <br /> South Everett CADMAN Plant 16300 Glenwood Ave. I Everett, WA 98203 <br /> Bulk samples collected were submitted for sample analysis in accordance with method EPA-600/R-93/116: "Method for <br /> the Determination of Asbestos in Bulk Building Materials". Analyses were performed in Pacific Rim Environmental Inc.'s <br /> NVLAP Accredited Laboratory (Lab Code 101631-0). Materials are positive for asbestos if they are found to contain <br /> greater than 1%or 1%asbestos. <br /> A total of thirty-three (33)samples were collected and submitted for PLM laboratory analysis. Seventeen (17)of these <br /> samples were found to contain greater than 1%asbestos. <br /> Thermal Systems Insulation(TSI) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing pipe insulation was identified in the southeast corner of the bathroom inside of piping. <br /> The material was sampled and no asbestos was detected (Sample#30) <br /> If during the course of wall, ceiling or floor demolition, any TSI materials that are not listed in this report are uncovered, <br /> sampling gial be performed prior to disturbing these materials. <br /> Surfacing Materials <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing textured coatings were identified on the concrete perimeter walls and pillars of the 2nd <br /> floor.The materials were sampled and found to contain 1-3%Chrysotile asbestos. (Samples#4, 10, 14) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing popcorn ceiling textures were identified on the ceiling and support beams of the 2nd <br /> floor, break area and office on the 1s floor. The materials were sampled and found to contain 1-15% Chrysotile <br /> asbestos. (Samples#5, 15, 16, 27, 28) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing texture on GWB was identified on the break area east wall. The material was sampled <br /> and found to contain 3-5%Chrysotile asbestos. (Sample#31) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing texture on GWB was identified on the break area west wall. The material was sampled <br /> twice and no asbestos was detected. (Samples#32,33) <br /> If during the course of wall, ceiling or floor demolition,any surfacing materials not identified in this report are uncovered, <br /> sampling must be performed prior to disturbing these materials. <br /> Miscellaneous Materials <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing window caulking was identified on the perimeter walls of the 2''floor.The materials were <br /> sampled and found to contain 3-7%Chrysotile asbestos. (Samples#1, 13) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing sheetrock(GWB)was identified on the east and west dividing walls of the 2nd floor and on <br /> the north wall in the bathroom.The materials were sampled and no asbestos was detected.(Samples#2, 11,29) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing 12x12 flooring tiles with associated black mastic were identified in the east and center <br /> areas of the 2"d floor.The materials were sampled and no asbestos was detected. (Samples#3, 9, 12) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing 2x4 ceiling tiles were identified in the east and center areas of the 2nd floor.The materials <br /> were sampled and no asbestos was detected. (Samples#6, 8) <br /> Suspect asbestos-containing cove base mastic was identified on the perimeter walls of the rd floor. The materials <br /> were sampled and found to contain 1-3%Chrysotile asbestos in the texture layer only.
