LIU & ASSOCIATES, INC.
Geotechnical Engineering Engineering Geology Earth Science
August 22, 2017
Mr.Mike Hansen
Eagle Country Construction
P.O. Box 1304
Marysville, WA 98270
Dear Mr.Hansen: _
Subject: Setback from Top of Steep Slope
Single-Family Residence
1630—46th Street SE
Everett, Washington
L&A Job No. 17-079
We previously completed a geotechnical investigation for the subject project, with our
findings of project site conditions and geotechnical recommendations presented in a
report titled "Geotechnical Investigation, Single-Family residence, 1630 —46th Street SE,
Everett, Washington," dated July 5, 2017. In that report, we recommended the proposed
residence be set back at least 15 feet from the top of adjacent steep slope of 40% and
steeper grade. It is our opinion that this setback may be reduced to 10 feet provided that
the footing foundations are to be constructed deeper such that the horizontal distance
from the outer edge of footings to the face of steep slope is not less than 15 feet.
Sloped cuts for footing trench excavation, footing bearing soil, and backfill of over-
excavation should all be in compliance with recommendations in our 7/5/2017
geotechnical report. Excavation, footing bearing soil, and over-excavation backfilling
should be monitored and verified by a geotechnical engineer.
19213 Kenlake Place NE • Kenmore,Washington 98028
Phone (425)483-9134 Fax (425) 486-2746
