July 3,2017
Single-Family Residence
1.,84A Job No. 17-079
Page 11
if the recommendations in this report are fully implemented. Stability of the slope can be
further enhanced by clearing the lower 15 feet of the steep slope, lining the cleared area
with a layer of non-woven filter fabric (Mirafi IONS), and covering the liner with a
minimum 10-inch layer of 2-to-6-icnh rock spalls. The rock stacked liner will be able to
allow water to seep through while keeping soils on the slope in place.
ONSITE STORMVVATER DISPOSAL
Stormwater over impervious surfaces, such as roof and paved driveway, should be
captured by underground drain line systems connected to roof downspouts and by catch
basins installed in paved driveway. Collected stormwater should be tightlined to convey
into an elevated spreader pipe system and to disperse onto a gently-sloped and well-
vegetated area at the base of the steep slope. The spreader pipe dispersion system is
shown on Plate 6. The spread pipe should consist of 4-inch, perforated, rigid, PVC or
aluminum pipe. The length of the pipe should be based on one foot per 50 s.f. of
impervious surface.
STRUCTURAL FILL
Structural fill is the fill that supports structural or traffic load. Structural fill for grading
work should consist of clean granular soils free of organic, debris and other deleterious
substances and with particles not larger than three inches. Structural fill should have a
moisture content, within one percent of its optimum moisture content at the time of
placement The optimum moisture content is the water content in the soils that enable the
soils to be compacted to the highest dry density for a given compaction effort Onsite
clean soils meeting the above requirements may be used as structural fill.
