13 <br /> Attachment A <br /> The objectives of the Pierce County Sheriffs Department and West Pierce Fire & Rescue <br /> are: <br /> • To act as goodwill ambassadors on behalf of the County of Pierce, the City of University <br /> Place and the State of Washington. This national golf event will draw many visitors and <br /> guests to Chambers Bay_and the surrounding area. Please treat these people as you would <br /> like to be treated. As always, all personnel are expected to be polite and professional in <br /> dealing with the public, and other agencies/people working the event; <br /> • To insure that residents,participants, competitors, and spectators enjoy a safe <br /> and orderly week of Championship Golf; <br /> • To prevent lawless acts from occurring during this event; <br /> • To conduct the normal enforcement of laws and ordinances; to protect life and property by <br /> being proactive, alert, and professional in our dealings with the public; <br /> • To encourage compliance with laws by our mere presence and professional demeanor, and <br /> with a fair but firm enforcement posture; <br /> • To provide a sufficient law enforcement presence that encourages adherence to rules and <br /> regulations,and deters violent acts; . <br /> • To reinforce our private security partners and the championship volunteers; <br /> • To handle infractions, citations and custodial arrests. Private security personnel and <br /> championship volunteers are responsible for addressing spectator conduct that may violate <br /> USGA rules,but does not rise to the level of a criminal violation; <br /> • To investigate any crimes that occur within the venue during the golf championship; <br /> • To assist as needed with player and crowd movement on the golf course; <br /> • To assist in providing on-course security as needed; <br /> • To assist with traffic control on the public roadways around Chambers Bay and areas of <br /> Pierce County affected by this event as needed.. - <br /> • To provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured; <br /> • To mitigate the destruction of property caused by fire or hazardous devices; <br /> SIPage <br /> • <br /> 122 <br />
