Jackson Park Phase One Renovation Project. At the time of the <br /> contract award, staff indicated to Council that Faber's bid was 15.5%above the engineer's estimate and was <br /> certain a new funding ordinance would be necessary to provide sufficient funds to complete the project. <br /> At this time, staff has identified that$600,000 in additional local funds are needed. Council was also briefed <br /> regarding this need on April 15,2015 as part of a Capital Improvement Project review by City Finance staff. <br /> Approval of the proposed funding ordinance would result in a total local fund capital contribution to this <br /> project of$1,000,000. The balance of the funding of$1,638,795 (or 62% of the project's total funding) is <br /> from a combination of federal, state and county funds. <br /> The additional funding is needed to pay for the following general cost types: <br /> 1)Material testing for contaminated soil and soil remediation designloversight services; <br /> 2) Contaminated soil removal and disposition at an approved landfill; <br /> 3) Change orders related to previously unknown buried debris and abandoned water lines removal; and <br /> 4)Buildings' design modifications and playground expansion. <br /> RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled"Senator Henry M. Jackson Park—Phase <br /> One Master Plan Improvements",Fund 354,Program 043,to accumulate all costs for the improvement <br /> project and repealing Ordinance 3349-13. <br /> 11 <br />
