Erosion and deposition of material during the last several years has
created an irregular lake bottom. The shifting sediments have also made launching emergency boat rescues very
difficult.
Parks has a contract with Geo Engineers for a design to correct these problems which include filling a depression on
the bottom in the swimming area while creating a uniform standard slope.Additionally, the existing boat launch will be
removed and a new concrete launch will be installed.
City Council approved funding for this project from CIP3 in the amount of$96,000 on May 24, 2000, more than seven
(7) years ago. The project's preparatory background and design work began in late?005. Work completed has
included a bathymetric survey, conceptual plan, permitting analysis, design, permitting and the development of the bid
package.
The project is presently out to bid as a City of Everett Small Works Project. The engineer's estimate for construction is
$185,000, including Washington State sales tax and a 30%contingency.
Parks recommends that the City Council approve a revised plans and systems ordinance in the amount of$281,000
($96,000 + $185,000).
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt the proposed ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled "Silver Lake Dredging Project", Fund
354, Program 012 in the amount of$281,000 and repealing Ordinance No. 2452-00 Section 16.
40
