The Working Drawings shall show all stages of demolition. <br /> I 3 <br /> 4 6-02.3(13).OPT7(C).GB6 <br /> 5 (April 6, 2015) <br /> 6 Joint Preparation and Installation Procedure <br /> 7 The Contractor shall submit a Type 1 Working Drawing consisting of the sealant <br /> 8 manufacturer's recommended joint preparation and installation procedure. <br /> 9 <br /> I10 6-02.3(13).OPT7(E).FB6.DOCX <br /> 11 (April 6, 2015) <br /> 12 Removing Portions of Existing Bridge Expansion Joints <br /> I13 The Contractor shall remove all concrete, expansion joint materials, overlay, dirt <br /> 14 and debris at the bridge expansion joints of Bridge No(s). *** EVTB13 ***within <br /> 15 the blockout dimensions shown in the Plans. <br /> I 16 <br /> 17 Concrete removal shall conform to Section 2-02.3(2)A2 and the following <br /> 18 restriction on power driven tools: <br /> I 19 <br /> 20 1. Jack hammers no heavier than the nominal 30 pound class. <br /> 21 <br /> ' 22 23 2. Chipping hammers no heavier than the nominal 15 pound class. <br /> 24 No other power driven equipment shall be used to remove concrete in the vicinity <br /> 25 of the bridge expansion joints. The power driven tools shall be operated at <br /> 26 angles less than 45 degrees as measured from the surface of the deck to the <br /> 27 tool. <br /> 28 <br /> I 29 The Contractor shall dispose of all materials removed from the bridge expansion <br /> 30 joints in accordance with Section 2-02.3. <br /> 31 <br /> I <br /> 32 33 For polyester concrete headers, or elastomeric concrete headers,the Contractor <br /> shall clean and prepare all existing concrete surfaces bonding to the header in <br /> 34 accordance with the Polyester Concrete or Elastomeric Concrete subsection, <br /> I 35 respectively, to Section 6-02.3 as supplemented in these Special Provisions. <br /> 36 For concrete headers, the Contractor shall clean and prepare all existing <br /> 37 concrete surfaces bonding to the header in accordance with Section 6- <br /> 38 02.3(12)B. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 6-02.3(13).OPT7(I).GB6 <br /> 41 (April 6, 2015) <br /> I <br /> 42 Placing Expansion Joint Sealant <br /> 43 The Contractor shall have the services of a qualified sealant manufacturer's <br /> 44 technical representative physically present at the job site to assist in assuring <br /> I 45 the proper installation of the rapid cure silicone sealant, provide technical <br /> 46 assistance for the use of the joint sealant, train the Contractor's personnel <br /> 47 installing the joint sealant, and to observe and inspect the installation of at least <br /> I 48 the first complete joint. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 The joint sealant shall not be placed against concrete until at least seven days <br /> I <br /> 51 after concrete placement.
