LI <br /> EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7558 placing the <br /> "Killien House" at 4918 S. 3rd Av. <br /> on the Everett Register of Historic Places <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett adopted Ordinance 1355-87 (amended 1956-93) <br /> authorizing the Everett Historical Commission to consider the merits of properties for <br /> placement on the Everett Register of Historic Places and to recommend to the Everett <br /> City Council that properties be placed on the Everett Register; and <br /> WHEREAS, the owner of property at 4918 S. 3rd Av. in the Lowell neighborhood has <br /> requested that the home be placed on the Everett Register of Historic Places; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Historical Commission reviewed the request, held a public <br /> hearing on July 28, 2020, and determined that the Killien house, built in 1924, is at least <br /> 50 years old and eligible for consideration to be added to the Everett Register of Historic <br /> Places; and <br /> WHEREAS, EMC 2.96.050 identifies several categories in which a building would be <br /> considered eligible for the Everett Register of Historic Places if it meets at least one of <br /> those categories; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Killian house is one of the last surviving examples of the distinctive <br /> architectural characteristics of the Dutch Colonial Revival style; and <br /> WHEREAS, the original owner, Mr. Frank Killian, was a local leader employed as the <br /> assistant superintendent at the Everett Pulp and Paper Company mill in Lowell. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> The Everett City Council concurs with the recommendation of the Everett Historical <br /> Commission and places the Killian House t 4918 S. 3rd Av. on the Everett Register of <br /> Historic Places. <br /> Council Member Introducing Resolution <br />
