25,196,1 <br /> The Regular Adminietrative Session of.the Clty Council was held at 10 a.m. <br /> Minutes of the meeting held January 2a /961 reed and approved. <br /> - . <br /> REOSLUTMN Moved by Johnson,seconded hy Elesseon to ado,.Resolution.258 as follows: <br /> A RESOILTION theCity of Everett.Washington,,etting forth the City,posi- <br /> tion on certain proposed legiaiatioh before the 1961 session of the <br /> Waehington State Legislature. <br /> WHEREAS,House Bill 119 and Senate Bill 111, which Imve been introduced in <br /> the 1961 session of the lieehington State Legislature contain proposed chengee <br /> in the organieation and operation of the Loumr Ccurt System of the State of <br /> gaehington,and <br /> WHEREAS,oaid propoeed legislation,if enacted,would,among other changee, <br /> abolish the appointive position of Police Judge,or Police Justice.inthe <br /> various cities and towns of the State of washingt ft,ea said position is pres- <br /> ently authorized by existing statures,R.would remove from the various <br /> mayors of Bald cLtiea and tom.the power to appoint Police Judaea,or Police <br /> Justices,for their respective citiee and towns, <br /> NOW.THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Everett <br /> adopts the following positione and principles with regard to any proposed <br /> changes in the organizationeand operation o the Lower Court System of the <br /> State of Washington: <br /> 1. While recognizing a need for changee and improvementa in the present <br /> organization/and operation of the Lower Court System of gaehington.the <br /> City CounCil is,neverthelees,opposed to any such chccwcc which would <br /> mandatorily abolish the appointive poaltion of Police Judge,pc Police <br /> Juatice,in the varioue cities and towne of the State of Washington. <br /> 2.
