July 29,1970
HALTER HALL Jerry Hann of Lee Johnson Associates appeared and said
• 002$COURSE that the contractor as a result of the request by John
Hall and the Mayor, analyzed progress on the Golf course
to determine whether or not it was practical to try and •
• complete the Course as required by the contract.,prior
to December 1,1970 instead of July,1971. His conclu-
sion is that by working two shifts and paying overtime
he can complete the grading,Planting and aii Other
items required by the contract, including two mowings
of the Course, prior to DecemVser 1,1970. To 4o this
his additional cost will be 532,000.00 for 18 holes,
or.$18,000.00 for the is 9 holes. If he is unable to
complete the 18 holes or the 9 holes then there will be
no,additional cost charged to the City. The cost trade
offs are as follows:
Outlay costs$32,000.00 with a potential income from
plays in the 1970 season of$40,000.00 to$60,000.00.
Without the accelerated program, play could not begin
until the spring of 1972 and the City would accept the,
responsibility of maintenance of the Course in July,
1971- The effect would be additional cost for course
nhintenance in 1971 with no anticipated revenues. Mx.
•
• Hann said that they were not giving any recommendations •
one way or the other on this proposal, but that they had
investigated the figures presented by the Contractor and .
did not find them out of line.
Moved by Councilman More, seconded by Councilman
Callaghan to authorgze the accelerated program at an .
additional cost o7901 *00 for le holes or$18,000.00 - •
for the 1st 9 1.1es if completed by-December 1. This to
be added to the contract of Olympic Landscaping Colgsany
•
on 11.Walter Hall Golf Course..
ROLL CALL:
AYES: famous,Dobler,Callaghan,Gebert,Mooze,Vognild
• NAVES: Michelson
Motion carried -
The President said the request regarding the Turf Building
Material and the Golf Course Inspection irould be continued •
until August 5th.
PINEHURST Mr.Tyce Soone appeared requesting the installation of steel
poles instead of wood pUes on Commercial.
