419
October 30,1974
Discussion was held on perhaps°sing a different tax level for different
types of gandaling but it was pointed out that the administration had 11
recommended having the same tax on all tYPea ef CamMl,aa mmdam tm make 'SI
the record-keeping a more simple project.
Al Hendricks explained the Council bill that had the exemption for senior 41
n1
citizens would be considered a substitute Council bill and would have to '
b introduced in that manner if the Councilso choosesduring the regular
session.
On motion the meeting recessed to the Council Ch ers. 1
The Regular Meeting of the Everett City Council reconvened at 10:00 a.m4
in the Council Chambers at the Everett City Hall,President Aldcroft
presiding. Upon roll call it was found that all Councilmen were in
attendance.
Minutes of the meeting held October 21,23,and 24th Were aPPromed as
printed.
Mayor Anderson introduced the 6th and 8th Grade classes from Eisenhower
Middle School and welcomed them to the Council meeting.
COUNCIL BILL
=4,2i7P.ftenant:U17,ee=f:MIN377""t""P'"e"is
Roll was called with Councilmen Langus and Aldcroft voting yes,and
Councilmen Minch,Gipson,Ebert,Michelson and Rucker voting no.
Motion Lost
Moved by Councilman Rucker, seconded by Councilman Rinch tr)amend
Council Bill 364-74 inserting in Sections 1 and 2 the amount of 5%to
replace 2%.
Councilman Minch felt it was more realistic to establish a tax rate and
shay with it rather than change it at a later date.
President Aldcroft said he felt the City did rmt know how much revenue
would be taken in on this and after a period of six month, the tax
rate could be changed if the Council felt the 28 was not a feasible
amount.
Councilman Rucker felt the rate should be 58 as other cities had their
tax structure set from BR up and Everett would be the lowest in the
whole state. He felt if it should not turn out it was a reasonable tax,
then it could be lowered much easier than any taX co..be raised. ..j.kjnn
7cku1 1
Roll was called with Councilmen Pinch,Gipson and Rucker voting yes, j4444
and Councilmen Ebert,Langus,Michelson and Aldcroft voting no. sjjs,
Motion Lost
