35 <br /> February 4,1576 <br /> _ mx.Wubbena said that Referendum 27 provides for an anticipated grant <br /> fox construction of the quality control facilities if application is <br /> made during 1976. He said that this grant will cover 408 of the total <br /> Project.. <br /> councilman Aldcfoft asked how much time the City would 1,vo to imple- <br /> ment some type of filtration program. <br /> Mx.Wubbena said that the City would have until 1500 to complete the <br /> Program. <br /> mr.Gipson asked what they recommend the City do at this point and how <br /> much time we have to do something. <br /> , Mr.Wubbena said that there were three steps that he felt should be <br /> taken: (1)recognize that water filtration has to take place, (2)have <br /> staff members develop specifics of a plan,such as what are the costs, <br /> how it could be financed and what kind of schedule,and(3)to deal <br /> with water districts using the Everett system they should establish a <br /> committee to sit down and look at the water problems of the area and <br /> try to bring about some answers to the problem. He said he would ex- <br /> pect some kind of an answer in two weeks. <br /> Moved bY Councilman Rucker,seconded by Councilman Langus that the <br /> city ge on record as of this date,February 4,1376,that we''recog- <br /> nize tbe necessity of a filtration systs,in our water system,and <br /> direct ths aPProPriate personnel to propose a rough draft of a.plan <br /> that would implement a program to comply with the Federal and state <br /> , requirements pertaining to our water system, find alternatives <br /> as to how we can finance these projects,and bring back to Council <br /> in two weeks;also to notify all water districts which use the EVer- <br /> ett water syatem of our intention to implement a filtration system." <br /> 4 <br /> Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes. <br /> motion Carried <br /> On motion the meeting recessed. <br /> The Regular Meeting of the Everett City Council reconvened at 10:00 <br /> ' A.M.in the Council Chambers at Everett City Hall with Council Presi- <br /> dent Gipson presiding and Mayor Anderson and all Councilmen in at- <br /> tendance. <br /> Minutes of the meeting held January 20,1876 were approved as printed. <br /> CITY HALL REMODEL <br /> Councilman Rucker gave a brief report on committee meetings pertaining <br /> to City Hall remodeling. Mr.Rucker stated that Joe Kozlovski was at <br /> this time pursuing the avenues of a possible grant for the police <br /> facility. <br />
