35 February 4,1576 _ mx.Wubbena said that Referendum 27 provides for an anticipated grant fox construction of the quality control facilities if application is made during 1976. He said that this grant will cover 408 of the total Project.. councilman Aldcfoft asked how much time the City would 1,vo to imple- ment some type of filtration program. Mx.Wubbena said that the City would have until 1500 to complete the Program. mr.Gipson asked what they recommend the City do at this point and how much time we have to do something. , Mr.Wubbena said that there were three steps that he felt should be taken: (1)recognize that water filtration has to take place, (2)have staff members develop specifics of a plan,such as what are the costs, how it could be financed and what kind of schedule,and(3)to deal with water districts using the Everett system they should establish a committee to sit down and look at the water problems of the area and try to bring about some answers to the problem. He said he would ex- pect some kind of an answer in two weeks. Moved bY Councilman Rucker,seconded by Councilman Langus that the city ge on record as of this date,February 4,1376,that we''recog- nize tbe necessity of a filtration systs,in our water system,and direct ths aPProPriate personnel to propose a rough draft of a.plan that would implement a program to comply with the Federal and state , requirements pertaining to our water system, find alternatives as to how we can finance these projects,and bring back to Council in two weeks;also to notify all water districts which use the EVer- ett water syatem of our intention to implement a filtration system." 4 Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes. motion Carried On motion the meeting recessed. The Regular Meeting of the Everett City Council reconvened at 10:00 ' A.M.in the Council Chambers at Everett City Hall with Council Presi- dent Gipson presiding and Mayor Anderson and all Councilmen in at- tendance. Minutes of the meeting held January 20,1876 were approved as printed. CITY HALL REMODEL Councilman Rucker gave a brief report on committee meetings pertaining to City Hall remodeling. Mr.Rucker stated that Joe Kozlovski was at this time pursuing the avenues of a possible grant for the police facility.
