55
February 18,1976
The Regular Meeting of the Everett City Council reconvened at 7:00 P.M.
in the Council Chambers of Everett City Hall with Council Prehident
Gipson presiding,Mayor Anderson and all Councilmen in attendance ex-
cept Councilman Rucker and Ebert who mere excused.
minutes of the meeting held February 11,1976 were approved as printed.
LETTER FROM EVERETT HIGH SCHOOL
Council President Gipson read the following letter from the Student
Body of Everett High School:
Each year in the spring at Everett High we specifically set aside
some time to devote entirely to government. This year the weeks
of March-8-18 have been chosen. In the past the major emphasis
has bmen on the federal government, but this year we have chosen
to spend our time on the local city, county, and state governments.
our main goal this year is to have the seniors at Everett High to
have a workable knowledge of our local government.
Most high school stndents have never had the opportunity to attend
a city council meeting, and fey;even know who their councilpersons
are. That is why we are asking if it would be possible for the
council to,on either Wednesday,March 10 or 17 to reconvene your
meeting after lunch in the Civic Auditorium,so that the senior
class could hear part of a meeting and.be able to ask questions of
the Council.
We feel this would be an excellent opportunity for both the students
and the Council to get know each other better. We would appreciate
your help in making our Government Weeks a success. If you have
any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at school
(342-7475)or at home(259-6739). We would appreciate a prompt
reply in order to complete our schedule.
Councilman Michelson tn..the Council meet with the Everett
High School on Mar.17th at the Civic Auditorium.
COUNC/E BILL NO.762-42
Second Reading.
An ordinance supplementing appropriations of the budget for the City
of Everett for 1976;and amending Ordinance No.376-75,aa amended
by Ordinance No.385-76,and declaring an emergency to exist.
COUNCIL BIEL NO.762-40
Fir.Reading.
An ordinance to settle all delinquent parking violations for which
there has been no final settlement to date, the citation of which
was issued prior to September 3,1975,fox 12.5 cents per dollar owed
(254 per ticket).
AGREEMEN1 (cow...11.762-51)
Moved by Councilman Einch, seconded by Councilman Langus to authorize
the City to enter into a contract with Stanley G.Wanlass in the amount
CS$18,800 for the construction of a sculpture and further, that the
City not wait for monies to be grant.from the National Endoennent of
the Arts, but rathor that the City Council request the staff..instruct
Mr.Wanlass to begin construction immediately. ,
