He said the City was appearing this ivvisisn. <br /> PSGC <br /> Councilman Ebert report.on a meeting held of the Puget Sound Council of <br /> 1 I Governments with the Counties and that the Counties had agreed to come back <br /> 1 1 <br /> 1 1 into the Council with some items to be negotiated as yet. <br /> Mayor Anderson left the meeting at this time. <br /> HEARING (CB 764-117) <br /> 1 •ty En ineer reported a petition had been received for vacation <br /> rolcIltrUic'CI • • <br /> evme W between 00th Street S.W.and SR526. Thzs petitron had been <br /> signed by Edgar N and Alfrieda Johnson owners of 1002 of the abutting property. <br /> The total area of the proposed vacation was 21,000 square feet with the total <br /> frontage 1400 feet. <br /> Comments from City departments and public utilities had no adverse comments <br /> except the Community Development Department felt that tbe vacation would <br /> facilitate the location of a wrecking yard within the citgre most prime in- <br /> - <br /> dustrial area. <br /> He said they had received opposition from businesses in the area including <br /> Rainier News,Kohkolm USA,OPCOM,INC.and a letter signed Route 526 in- <br /> vestors with six nignatures on it. All of these felt that a wrecking yard <br /> was not proper usage of this area a.that there woulni be future use for <br /> I. this street. <br /> Royce Ferguson an attorney representing the petitioners said the product would <br /> '0, continue even though this property was not vacated as the anilding was under <br /> construction and all other permite for parking rote,etc.had been obtained.. <br /> 'Itt•• Eugene Day of Western Gear representing orslers of property in the area said he <br /> felt this street would be needed in the far future but that they had no objections <br /> to the vacation of the street at this time. <br /> Moved by Councilman Michelson,seconded by Councilman Longue to conclude the <br /> pu <br /> blic hearing on the propos.vacation ana authorize an. appraisal of the <br /> 1 V) • <br /> Roll was coaled with all Councilman voting yes except Councilman Aldcroft who <br /> was excused. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> Moved by Councilman Michel., seconded hy Councilman Langus to authorize the , <br /> City Attorney to prepare an ordinance vacating this prmperty and have the <br /> first reading ai 118 404 of today's agenda. <br /> Roll was call.with all Councilman voting yes except Councilman Kin.who <br /> voted no and Councilman Aldcroft who was excused. <br /> Motion Carried 1 <br /> I• <br />
