Oh' Motion Carried 34)' 143'3j1„ Dick Thompson,City Attorney,presented two drafts for fire hydrant or- dinance ame.dments„ The firSt represented the langnage ProPosed the council committee which in essence eliminates hydrant requirements for single family dwellyngs and duplexes. Th.second draft is Pregosed language for a variance procedure for the hydrant requirement but not eliminating any of the requirements themselves. ''13' Conncilman duckett suggested that to maintain a standard policy throughout the city which is set forth in paragraph P of the present ordinance, the proposed ordinance providing for a varihnce procedure was the proper way to go. Councilman Gipson asked Chief Watson if he was comfortable in eliminating I, the restrictions on fire hydrants and Mr.Watson replied he felt the variance procedure was best. Moved by Councilman Aldcroft,seconded by Councilman duckett to request 18311 1 the administration to incorporate in the fire hydrant orginance 00500550 proposal that allows for a variance procedure and that the fire hydrant committee be reinstituted so that a study could be made regarding fund- )1' ing of hydrants in commercial districts,etc. Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes except COuncilman Michel- son who voted no.
