87 March 15,1978 The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order by Presi- dent Pro Tem Bob Overstreet at 9:15 a.m.,march 15,1978 in the Hearing Room of the County Courthouse with all councilmen in attendance except Councilman Gipson who arrived at 9:30. ARTS COMM/SSION REPORT(CH783-85) Arden Flom,past president of the Arts Commission presented two films showing art in the City of Everett. Mr.Flom replied he felt the art commission members were quite prejudiced and that a professional consultant coming in would be unbiased. Mr.Flom asked If the city would look into the possibility of purchasing the Everett Theater again. He said a firm from Oregon had purchased it and he understood it was available. Moved by Councilman Baker,seconded by Councilman Pope to encourage the ex- ploration of the possibility of the sale of the Everett Theater at this time and continue communication with the owners so tlmt no chance of missing a purchase of the theater if it becomes available after discussion on past ac- tion next week. Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes except Councilmen Gipson who abstained. Motion Carried The president then called a ten minutes recess. NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CIT/ES MEETING COuncilman Pope reported briefly or:some of the sessions he attended in Wash- ington,D.C.at the National League of Cities conference. EVERETT GROWTH STUDY COMMITTEE Councilman Aldcroft reported the Everett Growth Study Committee would meat every other Friday morning at 7 am at the Chuck Wagon Inn on Madison.
