They felt they were setting a precedent that would cause then: i <br /> . problems in coming vacations. i <br /> 5 <br /> Councilman Aldcroft felt the City is probably setting a policy <br />•• for alley vacations because the alley was not on the tax rolls, <br /> :. and with the improvement being anticipated they will be PaYing <br /> , taxes and bringing a big improvement to that area and to the <br />., <br /> City. He felt this was a policy that could be established by the <br /> . He thought it would be <br /> a more fair basls for an apprasial to use the early purchases for the <br /> comparables. He reviewed the revenues that would be derived by the City <br /> aftei this hotel was built such as the city's portion of real estate .h.,:';,,...',,.,„. <br /> taxes approXimated at 637,050.00 per year. Transit employee tax,Motor <br /> Hotel Transit Tax,B and 0 Tax and State Sales Tax,etc. Their total <br /> estimated revenues to the city for the first year of operation would be ... <br />• $93,526.00. <br />• <br /> Councilman Baker felt the Council should consider the manner in which <br /> . . <br /> the appraisal was done,that if it had been done prior to the purchase <br />. of the property the appraisal amount would be different. <br /> Councilman Overstreet felt the appraisal was a fair appraisal done by <br /> a registered appraiser and that as a businessman he felt all business <br /> people should phy their fafr share of the tax allowed. <br /> Moved by Cohncilman Aldcroft,seconded by Councilman Pope that the Ordi- <br /> nance by amended stating that compensation to be paid to the City shall <br /> be zero. <br />• <br /> Roll was called on the amendment,with all Councilmen voting no except <br /> Councihnan Aldcroft and Pope who voted yes.- <br />. <br /> Motion Lost <br />• Roll was called on Council Bill 785-162 as follows: <br />• <br />. f:117:::2n:%,A=ILZ°E4r.treet and Gipson <br /> Ordinance Rejected <br /> . :9. <br /> • <br />
