May 31,1978 193 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order <br /> at 10 a.m.,May 31,1978,in the Hearing Room of the County Court- <br /> house,President Gipson presiding. Upon roll call it was found that <br /> Mayor Moore and all.Councilman were in attendance. <br /> VitatZuZil',4:n7:=Zr=a1=afr114.TogefsertTlry"as"int" <br /> COMM/TTEE APPOINTMENT. <br /> Mayor Moore asked for concurrence of his appointment of Pete Newland <br /> to the Arts Commission to fill the unexpired term of Hill Ingram. His <br /> term will extend to January 1,1982. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes. •• <br /> Motion Carried <br /> SIDEWALK USE <br /> Rick Borteen of Channel 3 cablevision requested permission to park their <br /> camera van on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of Colby and Hewitt <br /> June 3,1978 for the purpose of televising the Salty Sea Days Parade. <br /> • <br /> Moved by Councilman Pope,seconded by Councilman Michelson to grant per- <br /> mission for the use of the sidewalk at this location under direction of • <br /> the Engineering Department with the understanding that the City would <br /> be held harmless and that any damages to the sidewalk would be repaired <br /> by Chanrml 3. <br /> Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> TRANSIT TAY <br /> President Gipson asked if there was anyone in the audience wishing to <br /> speak on the proposed transit tax. Pat McLain of the Chamber of Com- <br /> merce reported there was not strong opposition among the nwrchants to <br /> this proposed transit tax except from the big ticket aeller such as <br /> cars,trailers,etc. <br /> Bill Dobler reported the businessmen he had talked to felt there would <br /> be little or no effect on their businesses with the increase in the sales <br /> • <br /> tax. He said,however,be felt if they wanted to make this successful <br /> ballot issue they would have to get the campaign going Nd right now Yee <br /> didn't hear much about it either for or against. <br /> HEARING(CB 185-178) <br /> Dennis Gregoire of the Planning Departnmnt reported the Planning Com- <br /> mission at a regular meeting held May 3,1978 had heard testimony on <br /> the Nassau View Tracts Plat lying south of 40th Street right-of-way •. <br /> between Federal and Friday Avenues. This plat was composed of eleven <br /> lots on two and ohe half acres wi.access provided from Federal AVe. <br /> by way of 40th Street. <br /> .• <br /> • 4:4. <br /> • <br />
