September 13,1978 tr,ta:mflt:t1:7 Advisory Committee has recommended moving the Now therefore,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everott that; The bus stop located on the west side of Norton south.of Wall Street shall be relocated to the north side of Wall Street increasing safety at the intersection of Norton Avenue and Nall Street. 1 Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes. Motion Carried RESOLUTION(.1209-365) Ron Cameron reported a petition had been received requesting that some- thing be done to improve the safety of Dorn Avenue. In August they bad community meetings at Emerson School at which time the majority of people ' in attendance recommended closing Dorn. The week following TAC reviewed and recommended that a one month trial closure be made to evaluate clo- ',5 sure impact. He recommended concurrence by council. Richard McNeely and Roy Johnston spoke against the closure. Councilman Langus slso spoke against the closure and could see no reason for it. Councilman Aldcroft felt the 30-day trial period was in order and obvioesly there was a safety problem and this is why the request was made. Joe Banky of 203 Dorn Avenue spoke in favor of closing the street. He said the road was narrow,part Of it was on Private ProPertY and that 50 1051 many accidents in the area. Moved by Councilman Aldcroft,seconded by Councilman Pope to adopt Reso- lution No.1520 with b..Cameron working with the citizens in regard to the closing barrier location. A resolution to temporarily restrict all vehicular traffic from traveling through on Dorn Avenue by installing a barricade and appropriate signing t" Where.,the City has received a petition to improve the safety of traffic and residents along Dorn Avenue and 92nd Street;and Whereas,a majority of citizens attending an evening meeting at Emerson School on August 8,1978 voted in favor of temporarily closing Dorn Avenue west of 3rd Avenue to through traffic to evaluate the effects of a closure in terms of safety and traffic movement efficiency;and Whereas,the Transportation Advisory Committee has reviewed en.study re- sults showing traffic volumes increasing from 800 to 1400,the read not being on City right-of-way,the close garage;and Whereas,the Transportation Advisory Committee recommends that a tempor- ary closure would be the fastest way to immediately reduce the travel hazard on Dorn;and :. ;:11.7.r means is available to improve safety along Dorn Avenue bt=:therefore,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett 1
