' <br /> CouAcilman Langas suggested that if the rates smre lowered for the senior It <br /> citizens there would not be time for others to play and he felt if the <br /> seniors objected to the increase they would.have been at the meeting today. 41. <br /> Councihnan Gipson felt the proposal presented to the Council was established ) <br /> on a fair and equitable basis. <br /> Mr.Logan presented an ordinance establishing these fees to the Council )0 <br /> and asked that they have first reading at the end of the agenda. He said, , <br /> however,a letter had been received from Peggy)(cep,Captain of the Olympic <br /> View Women's Golf Club at Walter E.Hall golf course. she felt that many <br /> people using the course were not residents and that the Council had voted <br /> and passed a motion stating that the parks should be self-supporting. If <br /> this is so then,she said,how can the Park Board propose having special ,,, <br /> rates for only residents janior and residents senior. If the city is not 411 <br /> I, <br /> subsidizing the golf course,the city residents should not be favored over <br /> the non-residents. Mr.Logan said they agreed and asked that the word .,1' <br /> resident be stricken from in front of the juniori quarterly rate and the <br /> senior annual rate. 4 k <br /> Viola°vales of 511 Pilchuck Path asked who represented the Senior Center <br /> IF,1 <br /> citizens at the various meetings and Mr.Logan rep Lied he did not have any <br /> particular names but he knew there were several in attendance. Mrs.Ousler <br /> said she thought the increase would eliminate a nmnber of seniors from .hi <br /> playing who could not afford it and felt that none of the seniors were <br /> aware that the rates would be increased. .!I <br /> Councilman Baker said that at all of the meetings held the majority of <br /> people in attendance realized that all of the money received would go into <br /> M <br /> the maintenance of the courses and Pelt tte incre.me was necessary. <br /> STREET VACATION HEARING(.2012-487) <br /> Hearing was held on the proposed vacation of a part of Broadway Cutoff <br /> north of SR 526 and west of I-5. Lloyd Henning,City Engineer,said the <br /> ProPosed vacation contains an area of approximatelY 24,000 square feet <br /> and is in the C-1 General Commercial zone. That portion of Broadway Cutoff <br /> proposed for vacation is an existing dead end street with some asphalt 'I.I <br /> paving on it. The dead end street was a result of the construction of <br /> SR 526(Boeing freeway). <br /> The petitioners have expressed their desire to utilize these lands for <br /> ill landscaping and parking purposes for their business. Ar)easement will be <br /> held for existing and planned utilities across the proposed vacated street. <br /> He said there had been no objections to the proposed vacation. <br /> Councilman Overstreet asked Mr. HaUSMaa, the petitioner,if he had any <br /> objections to the 502 of the assessed valuation fee involved in the pro- <br /> posed ordinance and Mr..Hausman said he understood what the policy is <br /> at present and woeld comply with the payment of these fees. <br /> President Aldcroft then asked if there was anyone else wishing to speak <br /> on the proposed vacation and no one replied. <br /> Moved by Councilman Pope,seconded by Councilman Gipson to close the <br /> Pehlic hearing. <br /> Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes except councilman tsichelson <br /> whc was excused. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> ....— <br /> )(I, <br /> 4,4 <br /> 11:II' <br /> S4' <br /> Mt. <br /> ., <br />
