204 <br /> July 3,19)5 <br /> i 1 Brad Cattle,City Attorney,said the person in charge of fair housing <br /> counseling,which is city-wide,need not be an attorney,but that person <br /> does need to have some knowledge of the laws regarding this program. <br /> This has to be done in order to receive the funds. Under Item-B. <br /> 9Counseling concerning problems related to participation in CHIP"is a <br /> practical requirement which does require legal assistance. Re felt we <br /> are even morally required to provide this. <br /> Councilman Michelson asked Mr.Biddle of Evergreen Legal Services how <br /> many cases had been handled by them for the City. Mr.Biddle replied he <br /> , had a total of 7 on his case load log in addition to a list compiled by <br /> the CHIP office,which came to 10 cases. He said Oleir proposal was <br /> based on about 6 hours a week for CHIP. <br /> :f Mayor Moore reported he had planned on making acme changes 111 the CHIP <br /> office which would provide for this fair housing counseling by one of Ne <br /> employees. <br /> B, Councilman Overstreet then asked if this person were hired for the CHIP <br /> office,would the fair housing counseling be provided by the office so <br /> k that no additional funds would be needed out of this$12,500.00 budgeted <br /> amount,a.the Mayor reJlied this was true. <br /> )1Df.
