The jail portion,which is the highest priority right now, • would cost between$15 and$20 milli,dollars and could be totally funded by the State Sail Commission. Funding for the rest of the facil- ity is not a high priority,but the need for future space should be looked at realistically. MODIFICATION OF loET DISPENSING SYSTEM-(CB 7811-472) .. Mike Chambers,of the Motor vehicle Department,requested the consent of Council to modify the present fuel ai,rensing sYStem,allow the blending of methanol with gasoline. He stated that they propose to blend alcohol with gasoline in a ratio of 1 to 10 which would be a . I ....1 cost savings of approximately 25,000 gallons of gasoline per Year. Mr. . Chambers stated that a separate tank will be used to store this fuel and blend it at the pumps,which would have to be modified at a cost of under$4,000. councilman uope asked if there would be any engine damage by doing • this,and Mr.Chambers said no damage is anticipated to the engine,but • • possibly with the Plastic Parts which have a ten...,,soften. Council- man Pope then asked if any modifications vmuld have to be made to the . vehicles,and Mr.Chambers said that by using 10%alcohol there would be none,using 15%alcohol the timing may have to be adjusted some. • Mr.Chambers stated that eventually regular fuel Wouid be eliMinated 1 and alcohol would be mixed with unleaded fuel.
