!Milt 128 March 25,1981 • ..• COUNCIL BILL NO.813-104 FINAL READING: AN OFE2INMNCE amending Ordinance 026-69 that changes the name of South Broadway and Diagonal Way to Southeast Everett Mall Way and Southwest Everett Mall Way from the intersection at SR 526 to the intersection with Evergreen WaY. Ron Cameron,of the Public.orks Department,stated the southeast and southwest designation was in compliance with EMC 13.44 which requires • this differentiation. • President Baker stated if Council wished to change the direction designation in the proposed ordinance they would have to re-address the entire ordinance at another time. •2 President Baker asked if anyone wished to speak against the proposed ordinance and no one replied. -• she then asked if anyone wished to speak in favor of it and DOug Marsh, of 900 1.11 Street Building,attorney for the applicant,spoke in favor of the name change and.felt the confusion of motorists traveling on I-5 through the Eastmont interchange will be greatly reduced. He wished to include for the record the following reasons for the name change which • were discussed at the public hearing held February 25,1981 as follows: 1. It will make one continuous street name that represents the major traffic generation along the two mile street. 2. /t would be similar to action of naming a street for the major use identifY,ay.es Nerthgate Way,Alderwood Mall Blvd.,etc. 3. /t would decrease motorist confusion in finding their way to the Everett Mall and the different segment.,of Broadwa,. • Moved by Coancilman Pope,seconded by Councilman Michelson,that this is declared to be the final reading of Council Bill No.813-104 and the City Clerk is directed to call the roll for the final disposition of the ordinance. The changes were in the dollar amAIR ts due to design changes which resulted in a decrease in the estimated cost and expense of the improvement and estimated assessments amounts.
