This <br /> wouldahave to be done by a formal budget ordinance amendment. <br /> Seb Werre,of Bellingham,suggested using state land for farm-type <br /> facilities that would be self-sufficient. <br /> Bill Carpbasicalenter,of 902 Rucker,asked whether other counties were also <br /> ly most <br /> imposing the additional sales tax and Mayor Moore said <br /> counties across the state are also doing likewise. <br /> • Moved by Councilman Michelson,seconded by Councilman Gipson,to close <br /> the public hearing. <br /> • President PO,asked if anyone else wished to speak and no one replied. <br /> • <br /> Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.825-248 <br /> SECOND AND FIN.READING: <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No.No.861-82 • <br /> establishing an additional sales and use tax in the <br /> •. City of EVerett independent of whether or not <br /> Snohomish County imposes the sales and use tax <br /> authorized under Engrossed Senate Bill No. <br /> • 1982 FirSi Special Session. • <br /> •- councilman Overstreet felt it would bnecessary to ass this <br /> ordinance until and unless the County not cane no longer coollepct the tax. <br /> • <br /> Councilman Aldcroft felt the City might be misleading the public if <br /> this ordinance was not passed today. The possibility of future short- • <br /> fa7's in revenues should be addressed now instead of waiting to the <br /> end of the year. <br /> councilman Overstreet felt passage should be delayed to give citizens, <br /> • <br /> Chamber of Commerce and others time to give input. He felt this did no, • <br /> necessitate emergency action at tais time. <br /> Moved by Councilman Aldcroft,seconded by Councilman Langus,that the <br /> second reading of Council Bill No.825-248 is hereby declared the thirc <br /> and final reading and the City Clerk is directed to call the roll for <br /> •- <br /> the final disposition of the ordinance. <br /> Roll Call: Ayes: Gipson,Michelson,Aldcroft,Langus,Stephanson,Pope <br /> NaYS: Overstreet <br /> Ordinance No.868-82 Adopted. <br /> [ <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br />
