76 <br /> , I <br /> March 2,1933 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at <br /> 8:30 a.m.,March 2,1983,in the Council Chambers of the Everett City <br /> It, Hall,President Pope presiding. Upon roll cell it was found that Mayor <br /> Moore and all Councilmen were in attendance. <br /> Minutes of the meeting held February 23,1983,were approved as printed. <br /> President Pope announced that Agenda Item#6,the resolution supporting <br /> Evergreen Equestrian Park,had been deleted from the agenda. He asked <br /> if anyone in the audience was present to speak on this item,and no one <br /> replied. <br /> APPOINTMENT <br /> Moved by Councilman Langus,seconded by Councilmen Gipson,to concur <br /> with the Mayor's appointment of Barbara Yatee to serve on the Everett <br /> Housing Authority,to fill the unexpired term of Linda Wilton which <br /> expires 10/1/84. <br /> Roll was called with ell Councilmen voting yes. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> lir I. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> Mayor Moore proclaimed March,1,83,as"Red Cross Month°in the City <br /> of Everett and urged all citizens to recognize the important role <br /> Dt the American Red Cross plays in our everyday lives. <br /> 1, MAYOR'S COMMENTS <br /> Mayor Moore announced that,due to problems from state and county <br /> levels regarding lack of room in the Snohomish County Jail for <br /> incarceration of those under the influence of alcohol and drugs, <br /> the City will be installing 3°Barney Miller Birdcages.in the Police <br /> Department area. These are portable units and will cost approximately <br /> 58,000,plus tax,including the cost of steel benches to be put inside. <br /> These krill be used to hold prisoners until they sober up or off drugs <br /> before being released. <br /> COUNCILMEN'S COMMENTS <br /> Councilmen Stephenson reported a Budget Committee meeting had been <br /> held this morning. The golf pro contract will be coming to Council <br /> within the next week or two. He also said there had been approximately <br /> $20,000 damage to the boat launch due to tides and weather and this <br /> had been discussed. The City's obligation to pay about 59,400 will <br /> also be discussed by Council soon,as well as review of continuing <br /> obligation and the insurance situation. Anne Frederick,Risk Manager, <br /> has also been asked to become involved in this matter. Councilman <br /> Aldcroft commented that he hoped the City would continue to participete <br /> 1 I <br /> in support of the boat launch. <br />
