She supported adoption of an ordinance 4 before problems occurred. Ron Hansen,owner of real estate in this C-2 zone,said the property owners there were alarmed by this and said there was a problem already on Smith St.with crime,corruption and thieve, that cannot be curtadled. He said most of them had been owners of property in this area foryears and objected to this hartbning. Dlr.Hansen said very few of the businesses knew of this proposed ordinance and felt better communication was necessary. Laura Sparr,of 15421 49th Ave.S.E.,Bothell,complimented Councilman Morrow on his statement earlier. She urged Council to exercise care before making any decisions regarding the proposed , , ordinance. • Terry Hann,of the Chamber of Commerce,said they could see a.need for controlling adult entertainment facilities as these uses retard private and public economic development efforts,particrterlY in the redevelopment of city centers. They encouraged adoption of the interim ordinance. Carmelite Kernaghan,of 9428 21st Dr.S.E.,asked if adult.usundmuld Kli be allowed in areas rezoned.C-2 after this ordinance becomes effective and Dennis Gregoire explained rezones are now done with contractual agreements with limited uses specified. , 6 Viola Oursler,of 551 Pilchuck Path,said she did not want pornography of a,kind within 1,000 of her home and felt this distance should be greater and also farther than 600 feet from multiple dwellings. Mike Burgess,of 312 83th St.,said he moved to Everett from the , Seattle-Tacoma area to get away from this sort of thing. He wonder.what the impact would be on law enforcement. 1'48 Ted Hetrick,investor in property in the C-2 area,asked if there was other available C-2 property for the.if they chose to move out and Dennia Derickson replied the Planning Department was doing a new land inventory and this question would have to be assessed. 11J Games Brauch,Vice Squad Sgt.,said everybody would like to see ad.lt entertainment facilities outlawed. However,since this is " not legally possible,the only method available was to restrict zoning. He felt the area allowable under the ordinance would be undesirable and also make his work much eaeier. KKI President Stephenson asked if anyone else wished to speak on this issue today and no one replied.
