244 <br /> June 11,1904 <br /> Councilman Pope commented he thought theY h. asked fer mosetaxY <br /> SUppOrt and Ed Hansen, representing the PGA Golf Tournament <br /> committee,said they originally had but they.can use the bleachers <br /> and felt this sort of contribution would work out very well. <br /> President Stephenson asked if the Budget Committee had addressed the <br /> problem of priority scale 90 449$ for this fund and Councilman <br /> Overstreet said hey 944 not but fe t some gsidelines 9h 914 be <br /> established. <br /> Councilman Overstreet raised the question of responsibility of <br /> distribution to charities if the tournament made money. <br /> Roll was called on the resolution with all Councilmen voting yes, <br /> except Councilman Overstreet,who voted no. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS CONTINUED <br /> Councilman Langus introduced a draft fireworks ordinance for first <br /> reading today. This wosld repeal all other fireworks ordinances and <br /> bring the City into conformance with the new State law which became <br /> effective June 7th. <br /> Councilman Morrow was concerned about the ssffering and confusion of <br /> animals during the 4th of July holiday and also the enforcement <br /> issue when youngsters were caught with illegal fireworks. <br /> PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS <br /> President Stephenson suggested that the Animal Shelter people be a <br /> little more liberal in their procedures on how they handle animals <br /> during this period. <br /> He tl.n thanked Councilman Pope for taking time to visit the Naval <br /> bases and said several other Councilmen 9.11 be visiting <br /> Jacksonville later this month. After that he felt it would be time <br /> for Council to sit down to review and compare notes on information <br /> • gathered to date. <br /> Councilman Langus was excused at this tin.. <br /> STREET CLOSURE REQUEST <br /> Moved by Cosncilman Pope, seconded by Councilman Morrow, to approve <br /> the closure of Colby from Hewitt to Everett Avenue for the Annual <br /> • Street Fair and Sidewalk Sale on July 26,27 and 28,19E4,and that <br /> parking tickets be exempted during that period. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br />
