248 <br /> July 3,i885 <br /> ii <br /> DEPMTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STUDY <br /> Orin Pjeran, Homeporting Coordinator, reviewed the State of <br /> Washington Department of Transportation Study on the Navy base <br /> access. The City has received a draft of the study Legate but each <br /> • councilmen will be receiving a copy of the final report. <br /> The following options presented in the report were reviewed: <br /> 1. Igth Street tunnel <br /> 2. lgth Street tunnel/depresSed readweY <br /> 3. 18th Street surface <br /> 4. North-South <br /> There will be dole public meetings to enable the citizens to review <br /> the study and make commento on the recommendations. These meetinge <br /> mill be held from 1 p.m. heels. at various schools in both the <br /> north and south ends of the city. They will be held the last week <br /> in July and the first week in August. <br /> • Marc Ealkoski, 1830 Colby, spoke Mai.st the del...sd ddk.,attest <br /> option and the Ifth surface option. Ee felt it Would ruin the <br /> adjoining property values and would create considerable traffic <br /> congestion in the area. <br /> Chuck mama, union representatiVe for Scott Paper EMPioyeee,+Poke <br /> against the condemnation of the Scott parkifts lot whiCh would create <br /> severe parking and traffic problem for the Scott employees. <br /> Mark Houser spoke about the federal appropriations and the cuts in <br /> both state and federal highway dollars.
