111111111, .• <br /> • <br /> 6 January n,1907 <br /> COUNCIL BILL NO.0612-106 <br /> SECOND 6 FINAL BEADING: <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing a Citizen's Advisory Committee to <br /> assist in the disbursement of funds collected through the <br /> City's Hotel/Motel tax. <br /> Councilman Stephenson reported on ecommittee meetings which had <br /> been held rearding the disbursement of the Hotel Motel tax funds. <br /> Due to the time limit of the end of December 1986, the committee <br /> determined that they needed direction from the Council and felt that <br /> the establishment of a permanent citizens committee may be the <br /> solution. He stated that the community and the recipients need to <br /> assume some responsibility for the disbursement of the funds. <br /> Barbera Yates, committee member, stated that the reason Por the <br /> committee structure wetailored after the Block Grant and Human <br /> Need Committees of the City which operate so successfully. <br /> Councilman Pope expressed concern with establishing another layer of <br /> government <br /> that thenice ere review <br /> very explicit on how the funds monies. <br /> can be used. stated <br /> Mark Walken, City Admninistration, stated thatseven cities <br /> r <br /> throughout the state have been surveyed and none has a committee <br /> established for the disbursement of the hotel/motel tax funds. They <br /> all have goals end objectives regarding the u end disbursement of <br /> these funds and all have en application process. <br /> Mayor Mooresated that this may not be the right way to determine <br /> thedistribution of the funds. That the total picture for the <br /> establishment of some type of convention enter facility and tourism <br /> promotion should bereviewed and included in the guidelines for the <br /> use of these funds. <br /> Councilmen Stephenson stated the committee is looking Por direction <br /> end will continue xe viewing the process if that is the wish oP <br /> Council. <br /> Moved by CounCLlman Stephenson, secontletl by Councarner NLva to <br /> remove Council Bill No.8612-106 Team[otley's agenua. <br /> Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes, except Councilman <br /> I Overstreet who was excused. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> COUNCIL BILL N0.8612-107 <br /> SECOND READING: <br /> N ORDINANCE amending the duties of the Land Use Hearing <br /> Examiner amending Section 1 of Ordinance No.1121-05. <br />
