96 March 6,Ma <br /> MAYOR'S COMMENTS <br /> Mayor Moore announced to Council that Ron Cameron, the City's <br /> Traffic Engineer, has given notice of resignation. The Mayor said <br /> Chet Ron's expertise and talents were well known throouught the <br /> State and he will be sorely missed. <br /> Mayor Moore advised Council that barricades have been placed In <br /> various locations around the Monte Cristo Hotel due to some <br /> structure deficiencies. This has required the moving of the <br /> Community Transit bus stops. A more thorough report will be given <br /> to Council in the near future. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> Mayor 500:5 the month of March, 1967 as Everett Symphony <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilman Morrow commented on the homeless report for Snohomish <br /> County and expressed his growing concern for this problem. <br /> Councilman Wive commented on the recent announcements in the <br /> newspapers regarding the need for citizens on various boards and <br /> committees. She felt this shows the City desire to have citizen <br /> involvement in city Government. <br /> Councilman Overstreet commented on the recent National League of <br /> Cities meeting. He stated various issues are being established as <br /> City priorities. The homeless issue is one where cities can <br /> consider various options to assist in alleviating this serious <br /> problem nationwide. Education opportunities for the infant from <br /> birth to 5 year old is also being reviewed. Election'08 focuses on <br /> getting local issues to the presidential candidates and get not only <br /> their views but to help educate them to the specific needs of the <br /> local governments. <br /> Councilman Pope stated the Historical Commission will be coming to <br /> Council with a proposed ordinance to regulate the erecting of <br /> 'historical type'signs within the City. <br /> PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS <br /> President Gipson announced that item SI, the public hearing to <br /> consider the appeal of the Hearing Examiners decision regarding the <br /> William Bourlandshort Subdivision 013-85 will be postponed until <br /> March 25,1907 as the Mr.Bourland's attorney had another commitment <br /> for today. <br /> President Gipson announced that item 65,advertisement for proposals <br /> for lease space will be moved fr.the consent items to the first <br /> item for consideration under the action items. <br /> 11 <br />
