257 <br /> June 10,1957 . <br /> Dick Milken, representing Shepard Ambulance Co. said a contract <br /> provides accountability because the provider has to meet the needs <br /> of the en,hew.to be responsive and to be accountable or the city <br /> wall,cancel the contract. He said he felt their coverage was just <br /> as good as Baker if not better. They have 24 hr. BLS and 14 hour <br /> ALS in the city. They have many ambulances and if the two in town <br /> were tied up,they would immediately move some ambulances from north <br /> King County into the area. He said it was true that their fees were <br /> higher than Baker Ambulance but he said in order to provide quality <br /> service it costs more. <br /> Councilman Stephenson asked about the length of the contract and <br /> suggested it should be set up so that the citizens,muld have the <br /> best service and allow companies to bid on the contract. zg <br /> Councilman Niva was concerned about a local business that had been A <br /> here for many years losing out and asked if there could be <br /> negotiations with the local business. <br /> Bowed by Councilman Overstreet, seconded by Councilman Niva to table 4 <br /> further action on this until the council liaison end administrative <br /> people and perhaps the EMS Committee deals on an interview basis <br /> with interested parties and deals with the quality of service issue <br /> and report back to the council. <br /> Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes. <br /> Notion carried. <br /> 1 <br /> RIVERFREMT PARK <br /> Paved by Councilman Borrow, seconded by Councilman Stephenson to <br /> authorize the allocation of$10,000 from the Hotel/Notel Tax Fund <br /> for the location and development of a rowing faciity at Riverfront <br /> I <br /> Peek for the National Women's Team for 1987. <br /> 4i <br /> Roll was called with all councilmen voting yes.
