He briefly pointed some of the savings, such as prior to <br /> the establishment of the court, police overtime costs increased by <br /> ; 39% from 1985 to 1986. In 1987 after the court was formed, the <br /> overtime costs were cut over 20%,a savings of$19,750.82. <br /> In 1986,the city filed a total of 8,986 infractions and mandataries <br /> with Everett District Court at a cost of $184,698. In 1987, the <br /> Municipal Court handled 11,694 filings, a total filing increase of <br /> 30%that would have been filed in District Court if Everett had not <br /> formed the Municipal Court on Jan. 1, 1987. The cost to the city <br /> for those 11,694 filings at District Court would have amounted to <br /> $233,748.
