Upon roll call it was found <br /> that Mayor Moore and all councilmembers were present except <br /> :;'1, ' , Councilmember Stephenson who was excused. <br /> I Minutes of the meeting held August 17,1988 were approved as printed. <br /> , I 1 PROCLAMATION <br /> Mayor Bill Moore proclaimed the month of September as"Help Children <br /> II and Babies with AIDS" month and recognized the Rise and Shine <br /> Organization for their work in this behalf. <br /> '40. <br /> MAYORS COMMENTS <br /> Mayor Moore introduced Arlene Diamond of the Everett Park Board for <br /> a special presentati,m. Mrs. Diamond read a letter from the Park <br /> Board stating the Everett Park and Recreation Board, in its regular <br /> I A/.1,,1.1 session,August 23,1988,recommends that Riverfront Park be renamed <br /> r .., Langus Riverfrent Park in honor of Cooncilmember Bill Longue. <br /> LANGUS RIVERFRONT PARK <br /> , Moved by councilmember Gipson, seconded by Councilmember Morrow to <br /> l ' have a resolution prepared renaming Riverfront Park, Langus <br /> Riverfront Park in honor of Councilmembes William J.Langus and that <br /> tit the renaming be done in time for the Grand Opening scheduled for <br /> September 7. <br /> . ': 'I Roll was called with all councilmembers voting yes except <br /> I' 1 I, Councilmember Stephenson who vms excused. <br /> I 0,11I,I44:1,:: Motion carried. <br /> 1, <br /> RECYCLING/SOLID WASTE UPDATE <br /> ,.4, <br /> Katherine Vick, of EBASCO, Program Coordinator, presented updated <br /> recycling figures through the fourth month of the test recycling <br /> project. She asked for direction from Council as to the possible <br /> continuation of the program free few months to allow time for the <br /> II' III recommendations of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee. <br /> Os.Vick said that one of the considerations is whether the City is <br /> willing to assume the entire financial responsibility for the <br /> : continuation of the project as the Department of Ecology has paid <br /> II F.: 1 for half of the original study. It will also be necessary to see if <br /> tli. 1 Washington Recycling and Bulletin°Refuse are willing to continue the <br /> test program for an addit.onal period of time. <br /> Councilmember Overstreet expressed concern about the time table to <br /> implement any recommendations that are made by the Solid Waste <br /> ,r lq Advisory Committee and felt that some consideration should be given <br /> to at least continue the recycling program until the report has been <br /> I :. reviewed. <br /> P <br /> el:' 1 IIIiI, <br /> - _ <br />
