Following is our analysis of the 1989 revenue <br /> trends. <br /> Property Tax 1 <br /> We anticipate 8% growth in our regular property tax revenue. <br /> available for general government purposes. This growth includes the <br /> 6%statutory limit plus an additional 2%reflecting new construction <br /> and annexation. , <br /> , . <br /> Sales Tax , <br /> Sites so collections for 1988 may be less than our original budget , <br /> estimates although we will still see moderate growth in actual <br /> collections over 1987 of about 5%. This is down from our <br /> anticipated 7%expectation. For 1989, we are looking to continue <br /> with a 5%trend. <br /> Business and Occupation Tax <br /> . . <br /> The business and occupation tax revenues are now starting to reflect , <br /> increased activity and we are optimistic that business activity and <br /> • sales will continue to increase. We are projecting la growth over , <br /> Utility Taxes <br /> We are projecting that 1988 revenues from the tax on nature/gas, !' , <br /> electricity, and telephones will exceed the budget by 5%. This i <br /> trend is expected to continue on into 1989 with an additional we <br /> growth in revenues. <br /> . State Shared Revenues , <br /> By the end of 117.nryeer, we expect to see state shared revenues up I, <br /> approximately 8%over 1987. Using state projections, however, for <br /> ., <br /> next year,we see little or no overall growth in 1989. ; 1 <br /> . , <br /> Programs/Expenses <br /> I il <br /> Emergency Medical Services <br /> Just a month ago the voters of Everett overwhelmingly supported the ,1 <br /> continuation of the EMS paramedic levy and a property tax of 25 <br /> cents for each $1,000 of property value. We are proud to I <br /> acknowledge that Everett supports one of the finest paramedic <br /> programs tote found in any American city. We can point with pride <br /> to these firefighters who train for hundreds of hours so they can I <br /> respond quickly and efficiently to whatever emergencies may confront <br /> our citizens. <br /> Fire Equipment ,, <br /> The fire department hae indicated a need to replace more than 50 <br /> sections of fire hose that are now 20 years of age. Also,because , <br /> this older hose is of different sizes and configuration,it will be <br /> replaced with a single standard size that will serve an any of the <br /> fire vehicles. <br /> ; N. <br />
