Apx,A.5,lOSC 2 2 9 <br /> Mo.Wright stated he felt that five agencies would submit proposals <br /> to provide the day center facility. Those agencies are the Gospel <br /> mission, Catholic Community Services, Volunteers of America, the <br /> Salvation Army,and Evergreen Programs. <br /> Councilmember Morrow commented on the $250,000 grant that was <br /> reCeiVed by the Gospel Mission rows facility for the homeless. <br /> cherlie Setts, of the Gospel Mission, stated the state grant does <br /> require matching funds and they could use the City funds to provide <br /> a portion of the matCh and incorporate the day center concept into <br /> the main housing facility. <br /> founcilnember Gipson asked if the City and the various service <br /> providers had reviewed the total funding sources and services <br /> provided to insure that programs and services are not being <br /> duplicated. He stressed that he is not against the day center <br /> concept but wants to be asSUred that all the funding is put to the <br /> highest and best use to provide the necessary services. <br /> Michael Green of Mental Health Services,stated he felt it is vital <br /> to include more Client oriented objectives in the program. He also <br /> stressed the need to fine tune the overall needs of the population <br /> that is to be served. <br /> President Nile felt that the word*local"in regard to who could be <br /> served ymuld be difficult if not impossible to monitor. She stated <br /> that <br /> ett.everyone at some point bass ^first dayas a citizen of <br /> Ever <br /> President Niva asked about the 15MO funding. Mr. Wright said that <br /> $150,000 has been budgeted in 1985 and there has been discussion <br /> about another$60,000 in the excess funds that have been identified <br /> for special projects. <br /> lt was a consensus of the Council that the$150,000 was still to be <br /> committed for the day-center program. <br /> Councilmember Gipson asked if this item could be put on the regular <br /> council agenda in two weeks after the various agencies and the City <br /> have taken a look at the total available funding from all sources <br /> end a review to insure that a combined effort of programs and <br /> services can meet most of the needs of this grotm of citizens. <br /> Paul Roberts,Director or Community Development,felt that two Weeks <br /> WOuld he appropriate end would allow time for adequate review with <br /> all parties. <br /> The meeting reconvened and on motion,adjourned at 11:35 a.m. <br /> • <br /> Reed and aPPrO Ved as printed. 4 'Z., <br />
