173 May 3,1989 The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order ot 8:38 e.m.May 3,1989 in the Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall, President Niva presiding. Upon roll cell it was found that Mayor Moore and all councilmembers were present. Minutes of the meeting held April 26,19119 were approved as printed. EMPLOYEE SERVICE AWARE. Mayor Moore presented the Outstanding Employee Service Award to Fred grevik, of the Motor Vehicle Department, for exemplary service to the City and its citizens. , PROCLAMATIONS Mayor Moore issued the following Proolametiene1 • May 5-7,1989 proclaimed"Everett United States Air Farce Weekend". May 7-13,1989 proclaimed"De Kind to Animals Week". The month of May 1989.proclaimed"Older American Month". May 15-19,1989 proclaimed"Senior Center Week". MAYOR'S COMMENTS Mayor Moore complimented Rex Allison of the Everett News Tribune on informative,comprehensive and unbiased reporting on City matters. TOURISM ANNUAL REPORT Karen Charnell, Tourism Director for the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, reviewed the 1988 City/Chamber Tourism Program. she stated most tourism events and facilities have realized continued growth. She reviewed the various publications that have been used in promoting the Everett area.wind the VIP hosting events that happened in 1988. She said that one major accomplishment was the formation of the Snohomish County Lodging ASSOcievion. Ms. Channell reported that a need hes been identified for a Convention.nd Visitors' Bureau For convention marketing. This entity is in the formation stages and should be finalized in 1989. COUNCIL•COMMENTS bouncilmember Morrow reported that a call for bids for construction proJects for Kasch and 1.1ter Hall Parks had not been included On today's agenda. Due to the timing of the construction season,it is imperative that the bid call be out as soon as possible.
