-ww <br /> 176 May 3,1989 <br /> • <br /> RID AWARD • <br /> Moved by Co..ncilmember Pope,seconded by Councilmember Overstreet to <br /> authorize the purchase of 40 transit bus alarm units plus base <br /> stations from Foote Communications at a cost Of$14,294.00 including <br /> state sales tax. <br /> Roll was called with all councilmembers voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> SILVER LANE USE APPLICATION <br /> Bob Cooper, Parks Director, stated the Seattle Outboard:Association <br /> has spills for permission to hold their annual regatta on Silver <br /> • Lake on June 3, 1989 from,12 noon to 6.00 p.m. The races are the <br /> only such activity held on Silver Lake. The Seattle Outboard <br /> Association provides family-oriented events for its members and are <br /> a non-profit organization. The membership is chiefly from the <br /> Snohomish County area. Notices were sent to 500 residences inviting <br /> participation in a public hearing held by the Park Board on April <br /> 11. Eight written responses were received and one neighbor <br /> attended. The Park Board voted unanimously to approve the permit. <br /> Harold Shaw, Chairman of the Boat Regatta, said the Association <br /> provides family recreation and participation and also promotes a <br /> clean boating environment. He said the Association will be out on <br /> Sunday, the day after the race,cleaning up all litter from around <br /> the Lake. The majority of thelitter existed before the regatta, se <br /> they are also providing a service Of litter cleanup at the lake. <br /> Councilmember Pope said that the Boat Regatta is a part of the Salty <br /> • <br /> • Sea Days celebration and help to promote the family celebration <br /> throughout the entire City. <br /> Councilmember Morrow commented <br /> ause lake. <br /> that he Pelt the regatta is an <br /> inlaPropriate of the <br /> Moved by Cooncilmember Pope,seconded by Councilmember Overstreet to <br /> authorize the Seattle Outboard Association to hold their annual <br /> , regatta on Silver Lake on June 3,1989,from 12 noon.to 6.00 p.m. <br /> 1: 1 Roll was called with All coonclImembers voting yes except <br /> Councilmember Morrow who voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> RESOLUTION-HUMAN NEEDS FUNDING <br /> Virginia Gullickson,Chairman of the Human Needs Committee, reviewed <br /> the process in determining the allocation of the 1989 Human Needs <br /> • funds to the various local agencies. <br /> Councilmember Overstreet declared that his wife worked for one of <br /> the recipients of human needs funding. He felt he could make an <br /> impartial decision on this funding ection if there is no objections to his <br /> participation in this vote. No objwas heard. <br /> ,• <br />. . <br /> . . <br />
