He presented Chief Shelstad an $8,000 check to purchase <br /> another police dog for use with burglaries and drug investigations. <br /> Mayor Moore said he had received a donation of 85,000 toward the <br /> :NS'"1,. X! printing of a book on the history of the first 100 years of <br /> Everett. He had taken$5,000 from his budget and had employed Allen <br /> May to start the research and narrative. Other firms in the city <br /> c:11::f,!!',',. have approached him about donating money also. He felt the book <br /> would be finished in 1992. <br /> Bruce Jones, City Attorney, asked the council to approve a hold <br /> harmless clause in the agreement with GeoEngineers, Inc. for <br /> I:'' geotechnical engineering services to evaluate the cause of <br /> settlement on the 2800 block of Hoyt Ave. in the vnity of the <br /> 1 Burlington Northern Railroad tunnel in downtown Everett. <br /> Moved by Councilmember Morrow, seconded by Councilmember Pope to <br /> approve a hold harmless clause in the GeoEngineers, Inc. contract <br /> for services in connection with the 2800 block of Hoyt. <br /> Roll was called with all councilmembers voting yes except President <br /> Niva and Councilmember Diamond who were excused. <br /> Notion carried. <br /> Al Theal then reviewed the problems in the 2800 block on Hoyt. He <br /> "Jr, i ,, ' said the blacktop has dropped about eight inches. They will have to <br /> replace two sewer lines which have settled considerably, one in the <br /> Ialley west of Hewitt end one on Hoyt . The water line broke and <br /> 1, 5,' r 1, will hay. to be replaced also. Borings have been made at three <br /> locations on Hoyt, alley west of Hoyt, and east edge of Rucker and <br /> the borings indicated an initial loose area of approximately 10',a <br /> dense area for next GO' to 30' and a final loose area of <br /> approximately 10'.
