On May 20,1987, the City Council adopted Resolution <br /> (L No. 2867 declaring that the Smith Avenue Bridge was deteriorated and <br /> not structurally sound for vehicular traffic. The bridge has since <br /> been closed to vehicular traffic and has served as <br /> osnor (northerly) <br /> hasPdestian/bicycle path. The adjacen <br /> since filed with the City of eve=alaration of <br /> Forfeiture.. Craig mentioned that there were several possible <br /> solutions,one of which would be to fill in the pedestrian path. He <br /> also indicated that in talking with Mr. Hanson and his attorney <br /> before today's meeting that they were willing to exchange easements <br /> a <br /> nd assume the cost of the demolition of the bridge. <br /> City Attorney Bruce Jones, told councilmembers how they might <br /> proceed by making a motion to confirn, the forfeiture with certain <br /> conditions for the property owner and Clty. <br /> Councilmembers were concerned about the demolition cost, repair <br /> a <br /> nd/Or construction costs, and input from the residents of the <br /> Lowell area. <br /> Tconnectionrnoitt.V.ge tall'intnelerea!"n"rn th"t""t'""' <br /> Bob Cooper, Parks,was asked by Councilman Morrow how the proposal. <br /> would hamper or enhance the trail system. Bob felt that the <br /> proposals were feasible with realtionship to the trail system. <br />
