Councilmen Gipson <br /> a <br /> explained that the intent w not to be paid more than the <br /> employees. The intent is to be paid less than the employees. <br /> 0There should be no Competition with employees. <br /> r Attorney Jones gave a brief explanation of the CPI. <br /> Councilman..Overstreet questioned which CPI index and the <br />( January to January index. <br />' Finance.0lrector Bill Cushman suggested using Julyto July to <br /> u <br /> determine the CPI index. In the past the City has ed the All <br /> Urban Consumer Price Index and recommends using this index. <br /> f Roved by Councilman Overstreet, seconded by Councilman Gipson <br /> to change the wording in Section 1 to read as follows: "The <br /> y salary of each councilmember shall be increased in the same <br /> f C percentage as the annual increase from July to duly in the All <br /> y Urban Consumer Price Index for the Seattle Area published by <br /> fi the Bureau <br /> u of.Labor Statistics of the U.S.Department of Labor, <br /> providedthat said increase shall n t e ceed the percentage of <br /> al average salary increase of all City of Everett non-union <br /> employees for the same period of time."and Section 2 to read: <br /> "The salary increase specified herein shall be given each year <br /> on January 1,beginning January 1,1994. <br /> C• <br /> • <br /> e\ C <br /> 4_ <br />
