176 <br /> May 20,1392 <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS (—) <br /> Councilman Campbell commented on the American Heart Association <br /> Fund Raiser he participated in along with Councilmen Pope and <br /> Anderson. <br /> PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS <br /> Councilman Gipson stated that due to the critical time <br /> requirements of the Public Safety Committee, it was necessary <br /> to make some changes in the committee structure. He said that <br /> due to Councilman Overstreet's full schedule, he was asking <br /> Cooncilnmn Pope to Na Chair and appointing Councilman Campbell <br /> to serve on the committee along with Councilman Dianmnd. <br /> Councilman Pope explained that he would serve on the committee, <br /> but due to his involvement with the Police Department, he felt <br /> it would be more equitable if he were not the Chair. President <br /> Gipson thanked him for his frankness and appointed Councilman <br /> Diamond to serve as Chair. <br /> President Gipson thanked Councilman Overstreet for his efforts <br /> an&said that he understood and appreciated the time and effort <br /> Co oilman Overstreet is spending as Chair of the Snohomish <br /> County Tomorrow Committee. (I) <br /> CITIZENS'COMMENTS <br /> FIREWORKS <br /> Jerry Farley, 2540 34th Avenue S. Seattle, representing the <br /> local clubs and charitable organizations who sell fireworks in 1 <br /> the City, requested that Council consider appeal of Section 2 <br /> of Ordinance 1792-31, relating to Fireworks. Section 2 deals <br /> with the prohibited fireworks. President Gipson asked the City <br /> Attorney to review the issue. <br /> PARKING <br /> Oct Skotdal, 1602 Hewitt, commented on the acute parking <br /> problems in downtown Everett. He presented a petition with 123 <br /> signatures relating to the difficult parking situation. <br />
