240 <br /> July 1,lOng <br /> 0' <br /> reVngrew=tAles:%egeft=r14V:!' <br /> Councilman Anderson was concerned that our water supply would <br /> be in jeopardy if the snow pack continues to he low the next <br /> few years. <br /> Councilmembers were concerned that Seattle would become <br /> dependent upon Everett's water for their future useage and <br /> asked what Seattle is doing to remedy their shortage problem. <br /> Mayor have to look at our needs first. <br /> Councilmen Campbell and Pope emphasized that they felt a <br /> deadline far supplying Seattle with water should be included in <br /> the agreement. <br /> Councilman Anderson said that we were premature in making a <br /> decision without further statistical information. Clair <br /> explained that our updated water supply plan would be available <br /> this fall. <br /> President Gipson told councilmembers this was en opportunity to <br /> negotiate en agreement with Seattle. He felt if the City <br /> closed the door to negotiation there could be a chance for a <br /> regionalized water system and the City would lose control of <br /> our resource. Councilman Moser agreed and said that with water <br /> shortages all around us this area would be more prone to <br /> increased growth. • <br /> Because councilmembers were concerned about the length of time <br /> Everett would be supplying Seattle with water, Assietant City <br /> Attorney Bruce Jones suggested that the agreement specify a <br /> time/imit. <br /> President Gipson asked far Council's direction and if there was <br /> any opposition to continue negotiation with Seattle. <br /> Councilman Pope stated he didn't want further negotiation. <br /> =Zird4ttfelT. wsoVidd that <br /> hearing <br /> no <br /> further oppasitign <br /> Jerry Vrooman, Administration, asked for clarification, stating <br /> that his understanding was that the City of Everett would <br /> continue to negotiate with the PUD and the City of Seattle. <br /> President Gipson said that was correct. <br />
